About Our Care Home

Providing exceptional care and comfort for our residents

Care Home

Our Mission

At Care Home our mission is simple: to help every resident live well, with dignity, choice, and joy. We deliver person-centred nursing care, warm companionship, and meaningful daily activities—gardening, music, baking, and gentle exercise—while keeping safety at the heart of everything we do. We partner with families, local GPs, and community groups, celebrating Irish culture and traditions so that life here feels familiar, purposeful, and truly like home.

Our Values

Compassion

We treat every resident with the utmost care, dignity, and respect.

Safety

Our residents' safety and well-being are our highest priority.

Community

We foster a sense of belonging and connection among residents and families.

Our History

are Home opened its doors in 1998 in Kinsale, Co. Cork, founded by senior nurses Siobhán and Michael O’Donnell. What began as a small, family-run home has steadily grown into a warm community hub where clinical quality and homely living go hand in hand. Timeline 1998–2002: Farmhouse conversion to an 18-bed home; first residents welcomed; partnership formed with local GP practice and public health nursing. 2005: Extension to 34 beds with fully accessible bathrooms; launch of our first Life Enrichment programme with weekly traditional music. 2008–2009: Service strengthened to meet the new HIQA standards; staff complete QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support training. 2010: Opening of the Willow Memory Care Wing (12 beds) with a secure sensory garden; dementia-specific training for all care staff. 2014: Community partnerships grow—local Men’s Shed, choir, and GAA club support weekly activities; first wheelchair-friendly minibus purchased for seaside trips and café visits. 2017: Whole-home refurbishment: ensuite rooms, pressure-relieving mattresses, overhead hoists, and cosy family lounges. 2019: Kitchen revamp and a fresh-cooked, seasonal menu introduced; nutrition screening and hydration rounds embedded in daily practice. 2021: Creation of an outdoor visiting suite and covered courtyard; tablets rolled out for video calls with families. 2022: Move to electronic care plans and eMAR; physiotherapy-led falls-prevention programme starts. 2024: Sustainability upgrades—solar panels, improved insulation, and a bee-friendly community garden with the local school. 2025: Launch of weekly Community Café Mornings and an intergenerational reading club, welcoming neighbours and families back into the heart of the home. From the first day to today, our promise remains the same: kindness, dignity, and everyday joy in a place that truly feels like home.
